Overview of the position

The Sustainability Manager will play a pivotal role in driving ofi’s sustainability agenda in Timor. He/she will be responsible for designing and implementing sustainability strategies that enhance coffee yields, reduce carbon emissions, and align with international sustainability standards. This position requires a deep understanding of coffee cultivation, regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, and the ability to translate technical knowledge into practical solutions for farmers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and ensure success of certification programs, which includes empowering field staff and farmers in adopting regenerative agriculture practices, including organic production model where applicable, as well as document management.
  • Build connections to private sectors, institutions, and government for collaboration and other sustainability opportunities
  • Provide expert technical guidance to optimize coffee yields and minimize environmental impact while adhering to ofi’s sustainability framework and customer requirements.
  • Oversee crop estimation processes, ensuring data accuracy and generating actionable insights to inform business decisions.
  • Champion the implementation of Regenerative Agriculture practices in Timor, aligning with global objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to develop and execute sustainability initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with farmers and stakeholders to foster trust and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Agroecology, Environmental Science, or Agroforestry is preferable.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in the context, with a proven track record in managing team, yield improvement, regenerative agriculture, and agroforestry. A coffee experience is preferable.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective training programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis and management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work independently and lead a team.
  • Fluency in Bahasa and English is preferred.
