Job Scope

This position is responsible for developing and implementing FLSmidth’s strategy by growing sales, market share, and revenue. Being a key customer contact the role services established customers while identifying and building relationships with new customers to grow our aftermarket business.

The role is responsible for sales of all FLSmidth product offerings including Aftermarket Parts, Consumables, Services, and Technical solutions within the geographic/assigned region.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage and build customer relationships and be the prime contact point between the customer and FLSmidth to build long-term profitable relationships within the geographic/assigned region. This includes all aspects of customer management (coordination of quotes; database management; communication with the customer; resolution of customer disputes, etc)
  • Identify and develop an understanding of key competitors and their offerings and potential impact upon sales strategy, thereby providing market Intelligence related to competitor and market activity, and disseminate to the Sales Manager and other relevant team members (e.g. Service)
  • Assist the proposal team with technical input so they provide accurate and timely quotations
  • Stay well informed about market trends to conduct assessments of long-term market trends.
  • Participate in developing and driving strategies, regional sales plans, budgets, and sales activities for the assigned region to achieve short- and long-term sales goals.
  • Manage financials within the assigned region, including achieving budget and developing maximum potential profitable volume from all markets for the full range of the company’s products
  • Manage all aspects of sales management within the region – including: Developing maximum potential profitable volume from all markets for the full range of the company’s products; Identifying, developing, monitoring, and analyzing key sales performance indicators following strategic goals and business plans
  • Review Customer feedback or other matters that impact upon sales and customer relationships, and develop appropriate strategies to manage accounts; coordinate all aspects of sales forecasting within the assigned region focusing on the full FLSmidth product range of Parts, Consumables, Service and Capital solutions for customers
  • Provide reports (either monthly or as requested) on sales, market intelligence, activities, and wins/losses within the region.
  • Liaise with Product Managers and Specialists to provide value or innovative solutions to customers
  • Maintain accurate customer records and profiles (Microsoft CRM)
  • Produce and use reporting to keep customers informed and up-to-date with relevant information
  • Develop relationships with other team members to build knowledge, assist in achieving sales and DIFOT
  • Any other duties as reasonably directed by your Manager.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or any equivalent course
  • Experience in managing a geographic sales region / organizational department preferably within the mining/mining services industry (Essential)
  • Has engineering work-related experience.
  • Sales background with demonstrable customer-relationship building and selling/marketing skills and techniques with proven negotiation and influencing skills and strong customer service skills – both external and internal
  • Exposure or knowledge of mining or mineral processing and equipment and where the FLSmidth products fit.
  • Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and strategy development, including the development of strategic and business plans, budgets, and sales activities
  • A broad range of technical abilities and understanding of mining and construction industry capital, consumable and service products
  • Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work with customers, contractors, and other personnel daily.
  • Has good software experience and skills (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, etc),
  • Willingness to learn and undergo job-specific training (ex. software/project/sampling
  • Good organization, multitasking, prioritizing, and time management skills that deliver effective planning and housekeeping standards.
