Job Title: Regional Coordinator – MSME Lending Program (4 positions)

Location at 4 different area South Sumatra, Riau and Riau Islands, Bali and North Sulawesi, Indonesia

Type: Full-time/Part-time (Consulting)

Overview:

MSC is seeking a highly experienced Regional Coordinator to lead the implementation of a program aimed at accelerating access to finance for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in South Sumatra Riau and Riau Islands, Bali and North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in MSME development, with a focus on MSME lending. This position requires in-depth knowledge of the local MSME landscape, prior experience working with financial institutions, and strong project management skills. The role is flexible and can be either full-time or part-time (consulting), depending on the candidate’s availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Coordination & Implementation
  1. Lead and oversee the implementation of the MSME lending program in South Sumatra, Riau and Riau Islands, Bali and North Sulawesi, Indonesia, ensuring it meets program objectives and timelines.
  2. Act as the key point of contact for local stakeholders, including financial institutions, government agencies, and MSME networks.
  3. Develop and manage partnerships with financial institutions to increase lending and tailor financial services for MSMEs.
  • Private Sector Development
  1. Engage with financial institutions to design and implement MSME-friendly lending models.
  2. Organize and deliver training sessions for financial institutions and MSMEs to enhance understanding and uptake of available financial services.
  3. Provide guidance and support to MSMEs, helping them navigate financial products and services.
  • Project Management
  1. Develop and execute regional work plans, managing resources efficiently to meet project goals.
  2. Lead a regional team and ensure smooth coordination with national project teams.
  3. Ensure compliance with donor requirements and provide regular updates on project performance.
  • Policy Support & Stakeholder Engagement
  1. Engage with government bodies, local public institutions, and communities for suitable partnerships and to support the program activities and implementation.
  2. Advocate for policies that support MSME access to finance in collaboration with local government and regulatory bodies.
  3. Stay informed of local and national policy developments affecting MSME financing and the broader economic environment.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation
  1. Monitor program progress against key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure timely delivery of results.
  2. Prepare regular reports for stakeholders and donors, outlining progress, challenges, and successes.
  3. Use data-driven insights to assess the impact of the program and recommend improvements.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in MSME development, with a focus on MSME financing or access to credit.
  • Previous experience working with financial institutions, particularly in MSME lending, is highly desirable.
  • Experience working on donor-funded development projects will be an advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in South Sumatra, Riau and Riau Islands, Bali and North Sulawesi, Indonesia
  • or familiarity with the regional MSME ecosystem is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with a track record of managing multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Deep understanding of the MSME sector in South Sumatra, Riau and Riau Islands, Bali and North Sulawesi, Indonesia, including challenges and opportunities related to access to finance.
  • Proven ability to engage with financial institutions and government bodies to advocate for MSME-friendly policies and financial products.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead regional teams.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia is required.
  • Proficiency in English is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with bilateral/multilateral donor agencies or international development organizations on MSME development initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of the financial services landscape in South Sumatra, Riau and Riau Islands, Bali and North Sulawesi, Indonesia at large.
  • Local candidates or those with extensive working experience in South Sumatra, Riau and Riau Islands, Bali and North Sulawesi, Indonesia will be highly preferred.

Employment Type:

This position can be full-time or part-time, with flexibility for a consulting arrangement depending on the candidate’s availability.
