Drilling Engineer

Descriptions

The Drilling Engineers will be working under Drilling Engineering division within Drilling and Completion (D&C) team, and will provide support during the drilling planning, execution and operations for entire drilling projects (exploration, development, Make Up Wells) within Star Energy Geothermal.

Drilling Engineer will play the key role to the cross-function team in the project during the planning phase and represent drilling team on asset development in providing engineering input related to the well design, directional plan and trajectories, well pad sizing and layout, well cost and budgeting. And provide engineering support during operation to the Drilling Operation teams (Drilling Superintendent and Drill Site Manager/Company Man).

Responsibilities

1. On the planning phase :
2. Directly participates in Well Project team during planning phase and support the team throughout the project phase. This includes Basis of Well Design (BOWD) and well budgeting.
3. Responsible to develop the technical Scope of Work (SOW) and budgeting for drilling contracts.
4. Develop well plan using well engineering software.
5. Work closely with drilling engineering team to develop Drilling Program and Detailed Drilling Procedures according to standard and best practices in applicable Indonesia law and regulations, Drilling International Standards, Geothermal Industry best practices and reference.
6. Lead all required meetings related to drilling (i.e., Pre-spud meeting, lookback meetings, coordination meetings).
7. Monitoring the well drilling progress during the execution to meet the planned budget and timeline and well drilling objectives.
8. Monitor the daily update from the field and daily cost;
9. Provide weekly update report for the Drilling Manager;
10. Provide prompt response for unplanned event and any critical situation during drilling;
11. Able to identify the potential upcoming problem and provide recommendations.
12. Perform comprehensive drilling analysis/RCA of any anomalies occurred during drilling.
13. Held an internal meeting and capture lesson learned and future improvements at the completion of wells.
14. If required, witness the crucial activities at site during drilling operation : Drill the build section and reservoir section, run casing and cementing and other unusual drilling activities (i.e., Stuck pipe, well control, sidetrack, fishing/milling).
15. Coordinate closely with Rig contractors and other drilling services contractor.
16. Manage drilling services contract (contract owner) for the assigned and selected contract services. This is including manage all the contract deliverables, contract discrepancy and disputes.
17. Work closely with Drilling Superintendent and Drill Site Manager in providing engineering recommendations and actively involve in supporting field decision for any deviation from the drilling program.
18. Ensure all the documents is managed and well documented in shared folders.

General requirements

1. At minimum, a bachelor’s degree (in Petroleum Engineering or any other relevant engineering disciplines) from a top-tier university with consistent outstanding academic record.
2. Advanced degree (e.g. Master of Energy and/or a professional qualification) is preferred.
3. Minimum of total 8 years combined drilling experiences within field work and drilling engineering work. Geothermal drilling project experience is preferred.
4. Understand and able to operate well engineering desktop (e.g. COMPASS, WELLPLAN, WELLVIEW).
5. Good computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheet software (e.g. MS Word, Power point, Excel,).
6. Proficient in English both oral and written.
7. Able to work with multiple assignments within short deadlines.
8. Willing to work in a high mobility and high frequency of travelling.
9. Always act in a professional manner to complete all the assigned tasks and in providing recommendations.
10. Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
11. Demonstrated project management skill, including developing a project plan, schedule, dependency identification, status reporting, and issue resolution.
12. Demonstrated leadership ability in working cross function and developing team members.
13. Strong written communications: able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles and get messages across that have the desired effect. Having a published paper is advantage.
14. Strong facilitation and presentation skills: ability to organize, plan and facilitate meetings or formal presentation settings and can present to an internal as well as external audience.
