Role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development, testing and production of high-temperature and high-pressure equipment / systems such as various biomass pyrolizers, boilers / burners / furnaces, steam heating systems, heat exchangers, biomass-to-energy systems etc.

We are looking for a licensed engineering professional that has the creativity and the determination to develop various equipment prototypes, place them through rigorous testing, and release them for manufacturing. You are expected to lead new equipment developments or upgrades based on operational data and client feedback.

This is a hybrid job that requires up to 50% time spent at our partner's manufacturing facility/fabrication workshop and/or biochar production facility in the East Java region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the equipment design process including collecting feedback and discussing any potential design changes and modifications with clients, and technology, implementation, and manufacturing teams
  • Coordinate the development and production of the equipment prototypes for testing
  • Conduct rigorous reliability / usability tests and modify the equipment based on the test results
  • Document the equipment design process, iterations, and testing
  • Prepare technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals
  • Create mechanical designs and develop engineering packages (drawings, specifications, other technical documents) of various equipment in development
  • Evaluate the final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety
  • Prepare the budget and costing for equipment development and manufacture

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, or a similar field (Master’s preferred)
  • Min. 3-5 years of experience in the design, development, testing and production of high-temperature and high-pressure equipment / systems
  • Min. 2-3 years of experience delivering commercial-grade products to clients
  • Strong knowledge of design, engineering principles and material selection for high-temperature and high-pressure applications
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks is required; additional experience with AutoCAD and Fusion 360 is beneficial
  • Knowledgeable in fabrication technics (welding, milling, turning, drilling, etc.)
  • Interest in climate tech and a sense of urgency to mitigate climate change
