The role of the Support Teacher & 1:1 Paraprofessional is to provide comprehensive academic and behavioral support to students with diverse learning needs. This collaborative position involves working closely with the classroom teacher, specialists, and parents to ensure a nurturing and inclusive educational environment, empowering every student to achieve their full potential.

Duties & Responsibilities :

1.Classroom Assistance:

  • Provide one-on-one assistance to a specific student with special needs.
  • Assist with academic tasks, including reading, writing, and math.
  • Support the student in following classroom routines and schedules.
  • Provide support to the main teacher in managing the classroom.
  • Assist in the preparation of lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Help in maintaining a conducive learning environment.
  • Assist the student in transitioning between different activities or classrooms.
  • Assist students with school activities such as camps, extracurriculars, excursions, etc.
  • Adapt instructional materials to suit the student's needs.
  • Assist with the use of assistive technology and other learning aids.
  • Facilitate the student's social interactions with peers.
  • Encourage participation in group activities and classroom discussions.
  • Implement behavior management strategies as outlined in the student's IEP.
  • Provide consistent and positive reinforcement.
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting, feeding, and dressing, if necessary.
  • Ensure the student's physical and emotional well-being.

2.Individualized Instruction:

  • Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.

3.Behavioral Support:

  • Assist in managing student behavior and implementing behavior intervention plans.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and encouragement.

4.Assessment and Monitoring:

  • Help in assessing student progress and performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievements and areas needing improvement.
  • Provide feedback to teachers and parents.

5.Communication:

  • Facilitate communication between students and teachers.
  • Maintain detailed records of the student's progress and any incidents.
  • Collaborate with the learning support team and other department
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other staff about student progress and needs.

6.Classroom Management:

  • Help maintain classroom order and safety.
  • Assist in organizing and managing classroom resources and materials.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Minimum 3 years experience in an international school setting.
  • Relevant degree and teaching certifications. Having a Primary Education Degree will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 2 work references from previous employers.
  • Cambridge, MAP, and WIDA experience a plus.
  • Having experience working with SEN students will be an advantage.
  • Police record check.
  • Proficiency in the English language.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for young learners.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to providing quality education to young learners.
  • Proficient computer skills.
