Responsibilities:

Biosecurity Program Development:

  • Create and implement comprehensive biosecurity protocols to safeguard the cycle from diseases and contaminants.
  • Regularly review and update biosecurity plans to align with current industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Risk Management:

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential biosecurity threats.
  • Develop contingency plans and response strategies for disease outbreaks or contamination incidents.

Monitoring & Surveillance:

  • Oversee the monitoring of shrimp health, water quality, and environmental conditions to detect early signs of disease or contamination.
  • Implement effective surveillance systems to ensure continuous biosecurity.

Training & Education:

  • Design and deliver training programs for staff on biosecurity practices and protocols.
  • Promote a culture of biosecurity awareness, responsibility, and monitoring among all employees.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure the company's operations comply with local, national, and international biosecurity regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and guidelines, and ensure company practices are in full compliance.

Incident Management:

  • Lead the response to biosecurity incidents.
  • Document and report incidents and oversee corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay informed of the latest research and technological advances in aquaculture biosecurity.
  • Propose and implement improvements to enhance the effectiveness of biosecurity measures.

Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed reports on biosecurity activities, incidents, and compliance for senior management.
  • Maintain accurate records of all biosecurity-related activities and assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aquaculture, marine biology, environmental science, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in aquaculture biosecurity, disease management, or similar fields, preferably in shrimp farming or related industries, and 1-2 years' experience in handling team
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing biosecurity protocols in line with industry standards.
  • Ability to work in dynamic environments and under pressure, particularly in managing biosecurity incidents.
  • Proven experience in continuous improvement processes and implementing the latest biosecurity advancements.
