Summary

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer will support the implementation of plant engineering and maintenance standards to ensure safe and economical operation of Evonik's plants. The role encompasses maintenance, optimization, and management of E&I systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Engineering and Maintenance:

  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for all E&I equipment.
  • Perform corrective maintenance to restore equipment to operational condition.
  • Evaluate and implement technical modifications and improvement initiatives for E&I systems.
  • Ensure seamless execution of scheduled maintenance and unscheduled repairs.

Project Management:

  • Support plant-related investment projects involving E&I systems.
  • Participate in planning and executing shutdowns and decommissioning projects.
  • Implement and manage E&I aspects of Fast Improvement of Processes (FIP) and Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Collaborate with plant engineers and other stakeholders on process/procedure optimizations.

Asset Lifecycle Management (ALCM):

  • Contribute to the Asset Lifecycle Management according to ISO 55000 standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient and effective management of E&I assets.
  • Develop and implement asset management plans for E&I infrastructure.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain and update all relevant plant E&I documentation.
  • Ensure plant E&I practices comply with ISO 55000, EN 13306, IFRS, and national regulations.
  • Conduct and document regular inspections and functional tests according to regulatory requirements.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support to operational units, ensuring efficient troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Train and guide plant personnel in E&I maintenance practices.
  • Participate in Equipment Improvement Teams (EIT) and vulnerability analysis to enhance reliability and efficiency.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to E&I maintenance (e.g., MTBF, MTTR, TPA).
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) effectively for work order management and documentation.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, develop improvement plans, and support decision-making processes.

Safety and Environment:

  • Ensure all E&I work adheres to ESHQ (Environmental, Safety, Health, and Quality) standards.
  • Implement and maintain risk-based maintenance (RBM) practices to minimize operational risks.
  • Oversee the safety-related plant monitoring and ensure compliance with BetrSichV and other safety regulations.

Enhanced Material Tracking:

  • In the case of new construction or expansion of a production plant, utilize existing and newly created material numbers for specifying requirements.
  • Ensure clarity about materials used in the plant.
  • Simplify subsequent maintenance by using standards, bills of materials, known specifications, etc.
  • Accurately store spare parts required for commissioning and plant operation in an accounted and quantity-managed manner.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in E&I maintenance and plant engineering.

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of ISO 55000 and EN 13306 standards.
  • Proficient in CMMS, ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and predictive maintenance tools.
  • Familiar with industry best practices for E&I maintenance.

Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Certification:

  • Relevant professional certifications in electrical or instrumentation engineering are preferred.

Behavioral Competencies:

  • Proficiency in adapting maintenance strategies to local conditions and regulatory requirements.
