Job Description:
At bp, we have one thing on our mind – the energy of tomorrow. We’re helping the world get to net zero with the ambition of being a net zero company by 2050 and our early careers hires are integral to achieving this. As future leaders and technical experts, we need fresh thinking, curiosity, and a solution focus mindset to reimagine energy. That’s where you come in!
About Bp
We bring with us over 100 years of experience steeped in the world of energy. More than a century defined by two core commodities, oil and gas, brings us to a pivotal point where we are transforming from an international oil company producing resources to an integrated energy company delivering solutions for customers. We want to move fast but will do so with real discipline and care – keeping our focus on safety and performance while we transform, delivering long-term value for our stakeholders. Our early careers hires help build an agile, innovative, and efficient bp; a purpose-driven, digitally enabled, fully integrated organization.
Intern - Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering discipline principally can be separated into two disciplines : Mechanical engineer and Rotating Equipment engineer. Mechanical engineering discipline support our operations around the world. They work for ensuring the integrity of mechanical equipment and / or the performance of machinery. For mechanical engineer, the main responsibility of assuring integrity can be adding new small equipment into existing facility or modifying existing assets. They work also to develop maintenance strategy, monitoring equipment performance, and investigating / troubleshooting of operational difficulties.
Intern - Process Engineering
Process & Process Safety Engineering (P&PSE) is involved throughout the lifecycle of major energy projects, from establishing the business case and concept for a new development, through optimisation, design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations. We also support developing the innovations that will ensure our future success. And most importantly, we must understand and mitigate the process safety risks arising from our operations.
Intern - Integrity Management: Pressure Systems Integrity (PSI) Engineering
The pressure System Integrity engineer has the responsibility for assuring the integrity of topsides static mechanical equipment including pipework, pressure vessels and heat exchangers. It is achieved by undertaking thorough examination or inspection to ensure that they comply with current regulatory and statutory requirements. PSI Engineer will ensure the activity from planning for inspection, inspection execution, and anomaly management are effectively managed to reduce the risk.
Intern - Instrument & Control Engineering
The instruments and protective systems role consist of three primary specialist areas including field instrumentation, safety instrumented systems (SIS), and fire and gas systems, all of these systems playing critical roles in safe and reliable operations, environment and personnel protection. It is the control & automation engineer’s job to optimise production and enhance safety by making improvements to process control, as well as designing and maintaining the distributed control systems that house these controls. Operations critical telecommunications engineers enhance bp’s safety, security, communications, and operations in the field by engineering and supporting critical operational technology systems, connectivity, and networks. The automation systems digital security role supports operations, projects and emerging technologies in understanding cyber security risks related to automation systems, developing solutions and processes to conform to bp requirements.
Intern - HSE & Carbon
The safety of our sites, the well-being of our people and our impact on the environment are fundamental to our business. These foundational principles are critical as we reimagine energy for people and our planet and work towards our ambition to be a net zero company by 2050 or sooner. Health, safety, environment, and carbon (HSE and carbon) cares for and protects our people and planet from harm. HSE and carbon covers all businesses throughout bp from offshore production facilities, to wind and solar farms, global networks of retail sites, and many other exciting ventures. Our ambition is to lead by example in partnering with everyone to deliver solutions that reduce risk and eliminate harm.
Intern - Geophysics
Geophysics is concerned with the acquisition, processing, interpretation and analysis of seismic and other geophysical datasets (e.g. gravity-magnetic surveys) to create an image of the subsurface. Could you be the next geophysicist to join our team? Here at bp, the combination of geology and geophysics — as geosciences — delivers a powerful description and evaluation of the subsurface, growing our ability to safely deliver hydrocarbons and develop lower carbon energy sources. Join us as a geophysicist and you’ll find our dedication to today and tomorrow stretches beyond the success of our business to the development of our people and their successful careers.
