Job Summary:

The Sustainability & Compliance Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing sustainability strategies across the company’s real estate and hospitality operations. This role ensures compliance with environmental regulations, drives sustainability initiatives, and integrates Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) practices into operational procedures to minimize environmental impact and enhance sustainable business practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Sustainability Strategy & Implementation
  • Develop and execute sustainability programs aligned with company goals and industry best practices.
  • Monitor and measure the environmental impact of company operations, including energy consumption, water usage, waste management, and carbon emissions.
  • Conduct sustainability audits and assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Engage stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, and guests, to promote sustainable practices.
  • Support the achievement of green building certifications (e.g., LEED, EDGE, BREEAM) for real estate properties.
  • Develop and report sustainability performance metrics to senior management and regulatory bodies.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate environmental risks associated with hospitality and real estate operations.
  • Develop and implement policies for waste management, pollution control, and resource conservation.
  • Conduct regular HSE inspections, risk assessments, and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Provide training and awareness programs on sustainability and HSE best practices.
  • Collaborate with the operations and engineering teams to implement energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
Internal Audit & Compliance
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability policies.
  • Develop audit reports and recommend corrective actions for non-compliance issues.
  • Work closely with different departments to ensure alignment with sustainability and HSE standards.
  • Assist in the development and review of company policies related to sustainability and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate governance, ESG reporting, and regulatory frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Work closely with government agencies, NGOs, and industry groups to stay updated on sustainability regulations and trends.
  • Develop internal and external sustainability reports, including ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) disclosures.
  • Organize workshops and sustainability awareness campaigns for employees and customers.
  • Support marketing and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives related to sustainability.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Track and analyze sustainability performance data using key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare reports on sustainability progress for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Support annual sustainability reporting, including GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) and CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) frameworks.
  • Ensure documentation of sustainability initiatives for audits and compliance verification.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, or HSE roles within real estate, hospitality, or corporate environments.
  • Knowledge of sustainability certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, and ISO 14001.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations, waste management, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret sustainability data.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with sustainability reporting tools and frameworks (GRI, CDP, ESG, etc.) is a plus.
