About the Role:
BIASA is seeking a creative and technically skilled Fashion Design Assistant to support our design team. This role is pivotal in translating the head designer’s vision into sample forms, from concept to execution. You will be responsible for hand sketching designs, fabric manipulation, and developing mock-ups that bring innovative ideas to life. Responsibilities:
- Hand sketch design ideas into sample forms for further technical development.
- Develop mock-ups for new treatments, including fabric manipulation and hand-sewn proposals.
- Propose color combinations that align with brand aesthetics.
- Assist in mood board creation and general design concept application to bring creative visions to life.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years in the fashion industry in a related role, preferably within a design room environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (minimum 3 years).
- Strong Excel skills (minimum 3 years).
- Skilled in hand drawing and handwork such as sewing and embroidery.
- Experience with fabric manipulation techniques.
- Understanding of seam types, trims, cuts, and fabric behavior.
Core Competencies:
- Market Research & Trend Analysis to stay ahead of fashion trends.
- Strong color combination sense and ability to propose balanced color palettes.
- Ability to create mood boards and effectively interpret creative ideas into applications.
Soft Skills:
- High attention to detail and a creative eye.
- Confidence to contribute to design discussions, offering insights on color, style, and fabric choices.
