Key Responsibilities

  • Customs Documentation & Compliance:
  • Assist in preparing and verifying import/export documentation, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and bills of lading.
  • Ensure that all required customs forms and declarations are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant customs and trade regulations to avoid delays or penalties.
  • Customs Clearance Support:
  • Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and authorities to facilitate the clearance of goods.
  • Track shipments and provide updates on the status of goods in transit through customs.
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to customs clearance, including working with internal teams and external partners.
  • Tariff and Classification Support:
  • Assist in classifying goods according to the correct HS code and tariff classifications.
  • Ensure correct duties and taxes are calculated and paid for each shipment.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customs transactions, including documents, permits, and receipts.
  • Customs Risk Management:
  • Identify and report potential risks related to customs compliance.
  • Assist in implementing corrective actions to ensure compliance with changing regulations.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., logistics, procurement, and finance) to ensure timely and smooth customs operations.
  • Liaise with customs authorities and agencies to ensure timely clearance of shipments.
  • General Support:
  • Provide general administrative support to the customs department, including filing, data entry, and record management.

Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Diploma or equivalent (required); a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience in customs operations, logistics, or import/export roles is preferred.
  • Knowledge of customs regulations and import/export processes is a plus.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in completing customs documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with customs software and document management systems is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar tools.
