Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Customs Documentation & Compliance:
- Assist in preparing and verifying import/export documentation, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and bills of lading.
- Ensure that all required customs forms and declarations are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with relevant customs and trade regulations to avoid delays or penalties.
- Customs Clearance Support:
- Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and authorities to facilitate the clearance of goods.
- Track shipments and provide updates on the status of goods in transit through customs.
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to customs clearance, including working with internal teams and external partners.
- Tariff and Classification Support:
- Assist in classifying goods according to the correct HS code and tariff classifications.
- Ensure correct duties and taxes are calculated and paid for each shipment.
- Record Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customs transactions, including documents, permits, and receipts.
- Customs Risk Management:
- Identify and report potential risks related to customs compliance.
- Assist in implementing corrective actions to ensure compliance with changing regulations.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., logistics, procurement, and finance) to ensure timely and smooth customs operations.
- Liaise with customs authorities and agencies to ensure timely clearance of shipments.
- General Support:
- Provide general administrative support to the customs department, including filing, data entry, and record management.
- Education:
- Diploma or equivalent (required); a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in customs operations, logistics, or import/export roles is preferred.
- Knowledge of customs regulations and import/export processes is a plus.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Attention to detail and accuracy in completing customs documentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with customs software and document management systems is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar tools.
