PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Your future role
The Production Supervisor will lead daily operations in the fabrication workshop, manage a team of welders and fitters, and ensure production efficiency, quality, and safety. Reporting to the Production Superintendent and this role focuses on optimizing processes, driving continuous improvement, and overseeing staff development and will oversee daily workshop activities to improve safety, efficiency, productivity, and quality. Based in Batam, Indonesia, strong leadership and manufacturing experience are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising Workshop Operations: Oversee daily production activities in the fabrication workshop, ensuring work is prioritized and executed according to production schedules. Collaborate closely with production management to designate workloads, set priorities, and sequence tasks for fabrication stations.
- Team Leadership & Assignment: Assign tasks to operators (welders/fitters) and monitor their performance to ensure adherence to Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), safety procedures, and quality standards. Lead the fabrication team by providing direction, training, and motivation to achieve daily production goals.
- Process Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor the entire fabrication process to prevent delays and address any issues that arise. Provide corrective action when needed and implement continuous improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Resource Management & Cost Optimization: Manage material and resource allocation to avoid delays, ensuring timely distribution of necessary parts and materials. Identify and suggest changes in working conditions and equipment usage to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Staff Development & Training: Responsible for the training and development of fabrication staff, ensuring their skills and knowledge align with operational needs. Manage staff timekeeping, personnel requirements, and assist in performance reviews and goal setting.
- Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement: Ensure all produced products meet the highest quality standards and comply with Austin’s Quality Policy. Lead the development and deployment of standard work practices for fabrication across various work areas.
- Safety & Environmental Sustainability: Enforce safety and environmental policies (K3 & Environment) to ensure a safe and sustainable working environment. Ensure that all operational processes comply with safety regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: Degree in a technical field (Engineering or related) or Senior High School with 8+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing or heavy industries. Experience in plate fabrication or as a Workshop Supervisor in a similar industry is preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong background in mining equipment fabrication, including customized dump truck bodies, buckets, and related products.
- Supervisory Experience: At least 5 years in a supervisory role within a production environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office and familiar with fabrication, welding, and engineering practices.
- Leadership Skills: Able to lead a team, communicate effectively, and work under pressure.
- Additional Skills: Ability to read engineering drawings and recognize welding defects. Certification in Welding Inspection, Coating Inspection, or similar (e.g., C.SWIP, AWS) is a plus.
- Location: Resident citizens of Batam are preferred and position is based in Batam, Indonesia
