Position Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Back Office Intern to assist with various operational tasks within the back office department. This internship will provide you with exposure to the financial markets, trade processing, and settlement activities, allowing you to gain practical knowledge in securities operations. Key Responsibilities:
Trade Support:
Assist with the daily settlement process for securities transactions, ensuring they are processed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory standards.
Reconciliation Assistance:
Help with the reconciliation of trade data, cash balances, and positions between internal systems and external counterparties (brokers, custodians, clearinghouses).
Documentation and Filing:
Support the maintenance and filing of trade-related documentation, ensuring that all records are complete, accurate, and in compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
Reporting Support:
Assist in generating and distributing daily operational reports, including trade summaries, reconciliation reports, and exception logs, to internal teams and stakeholders.
Process Improvement:
Observe operational workflows and identify potential inefficiencies or improvements. Assist senior staff in streamlining processes and improving operational procedures.
Client and Counterparty Interaction:
Support internal teams by responding to inquiries and assisting with the resolution of operational issues related to trade discrepancies and settlement queries.
Compliance and Regulatory Support:
Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, including anti-money laundering (AML) and financial reporting.
Qualifications:
Education:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
Experience:
No prior experience is required, but an interest in financial markets or securities operations is highly desirable.
Skills:
Basic knowledge of financial markets and instruments (equities, bonds, derivatives, etc.) is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (basic functions such as formulas, pivot tables, etc.). Familiarity with financial software (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters) is an advantage but not required.
Language:
Fluency in English (written and spoken). Additional languages are a bonus.
Personal Attributes:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with different teams.
Motivated to learn and take initiative.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
