The Plant Costing Supervisor will assist the Plant Costing Manager in overseeing the costing, inventory, and manufacturing overhead (MOH) processes. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the tracking, recording, and reporting of fixed assets, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate capitalization of fixed assets, monitor asset depreciation, and adjust asset records as needed.
  • Conduct regular audits of fixed assets to reconcile physical inventory with accounting records, ensuring discrepancies are addressed.
  • Manage asset disposals, ensuring proper documentation and accounting treatment in accordance with company procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed cost structures for products, analyzing both direct and indirect manufacturing costs to determine accurate cost pricing.
  • Perform cost variance analysis by comparing actual costs to standard costs and provide comprehensive explanations for any discrepancies.
  • Develop and manage cost allocation methods for overheads, ensuring accurate distribution of indirect costs across products and departments.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of production cost trends and identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvements.
  • Oversee the accurate valuation of inventory, including raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods, ensuring compliance with cost accounting practices.
  • Lead periodic inventory counts (quarterly, annually, etc.) to verify stock levels, address discrepancies, and ensure accurate valuation.
  • Maintain the integrity of inventory data in the system, ensuring data accuracy, timely updates, and adherence to internal controls.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve inventory management processes and optimize stock levels.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in costing, inventory management, or financial accounting roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting methods, financial reporting, and inventory management systems.
  • Experience with fixed asset management and variance analysis is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (experience with SAP or similar is a plus).
