Policy Fellow for Policy Design and Operation

Under broad direction of the Governing Board, the thought leadership of the President, the guidance of the Chief Economist and other senior management officials, the (Senior) Policy Fellow for Policy Design and Operation(s) are expected to play a leading role in the delivery of high-quality knowledge products and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and outline actionable policy options based on ERIA’s academic research findings.
- Provide strategic advice at regional and national levels in ASEAN and Emerging Asia, in particular. India or Vietnam, and stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field.
- Translate regional policy initiatives into research agendas and foster policy innovation in collaboration with ERIA research team.
- Lead and facilitate ERIA’s communications with policymakers in ASEAN and Emerging Asia, in particular, in India or Vietnam, including leaders, ministers, and senior officials across various policy areas.
- Design and implement ASEAN’s consultation framework in close communication with both internal and external economists.
- Engage with key stakeholders—such as governments, industries, academia, and other international and non-governmental organizations—through knowledge management, policy guidance, technical assistance, and capacity building.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the President, COO, Chief Economist and/or other senior management officials.
Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in economics, development, public policy, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multicultural team.
- Extensive experience communicating with the governments of ASEAN and Emerging Asia, in particular, India or Vietnam, is strongly
- Analytical and research skills with experience in general in economics, trade, energy, and other related fields within ASEAN and East Asia.
- Ability to effectively present key findings to public audiences.
- Excellent writing skills, with proven track record of delivering high-quality publications.
- Experience in the handling of data sources
Language:
- Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English.
- Proficiency of additional languages, particularly Vietnamese or Hindi would be a great asset.
Working Conditions and Terms of Employment:
- Salary and benefits: ERIA offers an internationally competitive salary, with accommodation and education allowances. Salary is denominated in US dollars.
- Term: the appointment is for fixed term of 1 or 2 years, with the possibility of renewal upon reappointment by the President depending on performance and the continuation of the project(s).
