About Arsari Foundation:

The Arsari Foundation is dedicated to collaborating with the Ministry of Forestry on environmental conservation in Indonesia. One of its key sites is the Arsari Orangutan Sanctuary Center (PSO Arsari), established through a tripartite cooperation agreement with the East Kalimantan Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA Kaltim) and the Nusantara Capital Authority. The center aims to conserve orangutans and other wildlife, protect their habitats, and provide a sanctuary for wide-cheeked orangutans that are unable to survive in the wild. These efforts are focused on the Kelawasan Islands and other islands surrounding Balikpapan Bay.

Responsibilities:

The site manager oversees and leads conservation efforts at PSO Arsari, East Kalimantan, leading a multidisciplinary team, ensuring regulatory compliance (especially with BKSDA), maintaining stakeholder collaboration, and reporting progress to the environmental director. Your main responsibilities will include:

1. Program Management and Evaluation

- Develop the Annual Work Plan and Budget (RKT) for program implementation.

- Ensure program activities are executed effectively within the approved budget and timeline.

- Monitor and evaluate the impact of conservation efforts, making data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.

- Prepare detailed reports on project performance for both internal and external stakeholders, including BKSDA and OIKN

- Implement adaptive management strategies to optimize conservation outcomes.

2. Stakeholder Relations

- Foster strong partnerships with government agencies, particularly BKSDA, NGOs, distinguished foreign guests, government officials, and local communities.

- Represent the organization in meetings and workshops related to conservation efforts.

- Facilitate effective communication between field operations and headquarters.

- Engage with third-party partners, donors, and research institutions to strengthen conservation programs.

3. Financial Management

- Ensure responsible financial management, aligning expenditures with approved budgets.

- Submit funding requests in accordance with financial SOPs.

- Oversee procurement and resource allocation to support site operations.

- Maintain financial transparency and provide monthly financial reports to the Environmental Director.

- Ensure accountability in the use of operational funds and resources.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's or master’s degree in environmental science, forestry, biology, wildlife conservation, or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in conservation project management—preferably involving orangutans or other wildlife. He/she demonstrates strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills, along with proven experience collaborating with government agencies (such as BKSDA), NGOs, and local communities. Exceptional reporting skills are essential, including the ability to compile and present clear and comprehensive reports, proposals, and evaluations. Proficiency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English (written and spoken) is required, and he/she must be adaptable and willing to work in remote field locations under challenging conditions.
