We are now looking for a Sustainability Manager to join our industry leading and high performing Operations Sustainability team, to be based in Indonesia (Jakarta or Surabaya)!
The role –
In this role, your key responsibility will be to deliver significant Sustainability impacts within and beyond PMI’s comprehensive supplier network by building awareness, capabilities, and engagement through the Sustainability Accelerator program. Your influence will directly impact PMI’s sustainability leadership and impact globally!
You will take an active and lead role in initiating, leading, and fostering value chain collaboration by leveraging on progress and learnings from the PMI sustainability journey. Additionally, you will continuously develop and improve PMI’s Operations Sustainability strategy through learnings and external benchmarking, tailoring solutions according to corporate priorities and covering the full ESG scope.

The role –
In this role, your key responsibility will be to deliver significant Sustainability impacts within and beyond PMI’s comprehensive supplier network by building awareness, capabilities, and engagement through the Sustainability Accelerator program. Your influence will directly impact PMI’s sustainability leadership and impact globally!
You will take an active and lead role in initiating, leading, and fostering value chain collaboration by leveraging on progress and learnings from the PMI sustainability journey. Additionally, you will continuously develop and improve PMI’s Operations Sustainability strategy through learnings and external benchmarking, tailoring solutions according to corporate priorities and covering the full ESG scope.
Your ‘day to day’ –
- Provide expertise input to the Sustainability Accelerator Strategies on ESG topics and engage/collaborate with the broader PMI (and beyond) SME's to ensure quality, depth and up to date insights.
- Provide deep expertise on topics related to core capabilities (ESG topics)
- Stay abreast of global macro trends and be recognised as a sustainability leader within and outside PMI.
- Benchmark with the global best companies for Supplier engagement and capability building on sustainability to continuously improve the Accelerator solution.
- Identify & develop a pipeline of ideas for new modules and topics for the Sustainability Accelerator framework, contribute to the pipeline prioritization and co-design the strategy.
- Develop toolboxes and frameworks to support the sustainability agenda acceleration.
- Deploy the Accelerator program with selected suppliers and deliver the accelerated impact back to PMI Sustainability KPI's.
- Develop new and update existing Accelerator modules to offer a full holistic Sustainability Accelerator ecosystem with all the latest regulations and topics.
- Provide input for all external reporting submissions.
- University or College level degree in Environmental Science, Agricultural Production, Agronomy Engineer/Science, or other related degree with a specialization in Environmental and/or Sustainability Management; or Master’s degree in social science, business management, or other related degree with a specialization in Human Rights.
- Professional written and verbal Chinese and / or Japanese language skills, and a proven ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external audiences in these languages.
- More than 3 years of experience in environmental related Sustainability Programs or in social related Sustainability Programs and/or human rights, preferably within FMCG or consumer electronics.
- Proven practical experience in water stewardship/ carbon footprint/ waste management/ carbon management/ forest management and biodiversity or in child labour elimination/ women empowerment/ responsible sourcing.
- Proven experience in sustainability technology solutions preferred.
- Ability to quickly process and understand complexity & ambiguity and define right solutions to tough problems.
- A keen interest and knowledge in macro trends, standards, policies, and regulations within environment/social sustainability topics.
- Clear, concise, and effective communication skills; and excellent stakeholder relationship building and influencing skills across a diverse audience.
- Leadership background where effectively collaborating with cross functional teams has been essential in multi-national and multi-cultural environments.
- Good knowledge in data analytics preferred.
