Position Description for Mechanical Fitter (Warehouse)
The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment across the organization. This role involves working with various machines, tools, and mechanical components to ensure smooth operations, reliability, and compliance with safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to and actively engage in safe work practices, including participating in risk assessments and Safe Work Procedures (SWP).
- Conduct inspections, repairs, and test runs using mechanical checklists to ensure optimal equipment functionality.
- Interpret drawings, plans, blueprints, and specifications to fit and assemble machinery parts and other equipment accurately.
- Assemble and construct mechanical systems, including drive shafts, bearings, seals, fasteners, and warehouse equipment.
- Perform routine checks, maintain equipment reports, and ensure proper commissioning of machinery.
- Communicate effectively regarding equipment issues and execute mechanical repairs as directed by the Supervisor.
- Coordinate with internal and external resources for mechanical maintenance or repairs as required by the Supervisor.
- Collaborate with various departments as required.
Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or similar.
- A Restricted Electrical License is considered advantageous.
- Valid licenses and certifications associated with a workshop environment
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative approach towards colleagues and personnel across all business levels.
- Several years of professional experience in a manufacturing or mechanical workshop environment.
- Completed training in a technical field, such as mechatronics or electronics.
- Class A driver's license is required.
- Basic English skills preferred.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for work-related tasks.
