The Role

Cardiff Metropolitan University is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Local Representative in Indonesia to increase student enrolment and expand the University’s market presence in the region. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in student recruitment, agent management, and relationship-building with schools, universities, and other education providers.

The post holder will implement a targeted student recruitment strategy, engage local education agents and institutional partners, and ensure Cardiff Met achieves its student recruitment targets in Indonesia. The role requires strong sales, marketing, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently while meeting key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities

1. Student Recruitment & Market Growth

  • Achieve and exceed annual student recruitment targets for Cardiff Met in Indonesia.
  • Develop and execute a targeted student recruitment strategy, focusing on conversion from inquiry to enrolment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with education agents, high schools, universities, and key influencers in Indonesia.
  • Conduct regular training and engagement sessions with agents to ensure they have up-to-date knowledge of Cardiff Met’s programs, admission requirements, and selling points.
  • Provide personalized counselling to prospective students and their families to encourage enrolment.
  • Track student inquiries, applications, and enrolments to optimize recruitment efforts.
  • Ensure recruitment activities comply with UKVI regulations, ethical marketing practices, and Cardiff Met policies.

2. Sales, Marketing & Promotion

  • Represent Cardiff Met at student recruitment fairs, education expos, school visits, and networking events across Indonesia.
  • Design and execute localized digital marketing campaigns, including social media outreach, digital ads, and webinars to engage prospective students.
  • Organize and conduct informational sessions, workshops, and Q&A events for students, parents, and counsellors.
  • Work closely with Cardiff Met’s marketing team to adapt marketing materials for the Indonesian audience.
  • Develop success stories and highlight Cardiff Met alumni in Indonesia to strengthen brand credibility.

3. Partnerships & Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with schools, universities, and corporate sponsors to increase Cardiff Met’s visibility.
  • Develop collaborations with government bodies, the British Council, and relevant stakeholders to support student mobility to the UK.
  • Support visits of Cardiff Met staff and senior leadership to Indonesia by organizing meetings and events with key partners.
  • Work closely with Indonesian education providers to explore progression agreements and collaborative programs.

4. Admissions & Student Support

  • Guide prospective students through the application process, ensuring documentation meets Cardiff Met’s admission standards.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments of student qualifications, English proficiency, and financial eligibility before submission.
  • Provide guidance on visa applications and compliance with UKVI regulations.
  • Deliver pre-departure briefings to help students prepare for their studies in the UK.

5. Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track and analyse student recruitment data, ensuring effective decision-making based on key trends.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports on recruitment activities, student inquiries, and market developments.
  • Monitor and evaluate agent performance, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Manage the recruitment budget effectively, ensuring return on investment from marketing initiatives.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in international student recruitment, particularly in Indonesia.
  • Strong network of education agents, schools, and universities in the region.
  • Deep understanding of UK higher education and admission requirements.
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and marketing skills, with the ability to drive student enrolment.
  • Proven ability to work independently and achieve recruitment targets.
  • Experience managing recruitment events, digital campaigns, and marketing budgets.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia (additional languages are a plus).
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Indonesia and occasionally to the UK.
