About the role

We are looking for a talented Game Narrative Designer / Game Writer to craft immersive game stories, world-building, and engaging character-driven narratives. The ideal candidate will integrate Indonesian history, mythology, and folklore into compelling game plots, creating unique storytelling experiences. You will collaborate closely with designers, artists, and developers to shape the game's universe, quests, and dialogues, ensuring a captivating player journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and write game world-building, lore, backstories, heroes, characters, and narrative structures.
  2. Create engaging questlines, character dialogues, and scene descriptions, ensuring consistency and depth.
  3. Incorporate Indonesian history, folklore, and mythology into the game's storyline.
  4. Work closely with game designers to integrate storytelling into gameplay mechanics.
  5. Research and analyze player engagement to refine narrative flow and text presentation.
  6. Assist in writing promotional content for marketing campaigns, such as trailers and game descriptions.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Literature, History, Cultural Studies, Media, Game Design, or related fields.
  2. Strong knowledge of Indonesian history, culture, and mythology with the ability to translate them into engaging game content.
  3. Passion for gaming, with experience in narrative-driven games (RPGs, open-world, interactive stories, etc.).
  4. Excellent writing and storytelling skills, capable of crafting immersive and emotional narratives.
  5. Strong communication and teamwork skills, able to collaborate across different departments.
  6. Proficiency in documentation tools (Google Docs, Notion, Scrivener) and game development collaboration tools (Trello, Miro, Unity/Unreal narrative tools preferred).
  7. Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia (written and spoken).

Bonus Points:

  1. Previous experience in game development or screenwriting (portfolio/sample work preferred).
  2. Deep understanding of Indonesian traditional culture, folklore, and religious myths.
  3. Basic knowledge of game design principles to enhance narrative pacing and player engagement.
  4. Familiarity with global gaming trends and storytelling techniques for diverse player bases.
