Responsibilities
- The PI is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing research projects, including setting objectives, timelines, and budgets, while ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory standards
- Securing funding is a significant part of a PI's role, involving writing grant proposals, managing budgets, and reporting to funding agencies
- The PI designs the research studies, selects appropriate methodologies, and ensures that the research aligns with the project's objectives
- The PI leads a team of researchers, graduate students, and technicians, mentoring staff, delegating tasks, and facilitating collaboration
- The PI is involved in analyzing research data, interpreting results, and ensuring effective communication of findings through publications and presentations
- The PI writes and submits scientific papers to peer-reviewed journals, presents findings at conferences, and shares results with the scientific community and stakeholders
- Establishing collaborations with other researchers, institutions, and industry partners to enhance research impact and access additional resources
- Ensuring that all research activities adhere to ethical standards, safety regulations, and institutional guidelines
- Regularly evaluating the progress of the research project and making necessary adjustments to stay on track with goals and objectives
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field, with postdoctoral experience and professor title often preferred
- Experience in Molecular Biology in Plant, Biotechnology in Plant, Bioinformatics in Plant, Genomic Herbal In Medicine, Cell culture in Plant, or related to genomic plant
- Experience in leading or significantly contributing to research projects is essential
- A strong record of publications in reputable journals reflects research productivity, expertise, and credibility in the field
- Proficiency in relevant research methodologies, data analysis, and specific tools or technologies related to the project area
- Experience with managing research budgets, scheduling, and allocating resources effectively
- The PI must be able to lead a research team, manage collaborative efforts, and resolve conflicts effectively
- Strong communication skills are essential for coordinating with the research team, presenting findings, and engaging with stakeholders or funding bodies
- Familiarity with research ethics, IRB requirements, data privacy laws, and other regulatory compliance relevant to the research area
- Skill in writing compelling, clear proposals that meet funding agency requirements and objectives
