Job Summary

The Market Development Manager (MDM) develops the market and promotes WACKER’s offerings to customers (distributors) in Indonesia. They are responsible for gathering market information which includes customer insights, trends, and market movements, and communicating to the business. The MDM is key to bridging the communication between the customer, distributors, and the company to provide accurate information and to obtain customer requirements.

Job Scope

  • Takes ownership of the assigned business fields in Indonesia in alignment with the Business Team
  • Maintain, develop, and enhance customer relationships for existing and potential customers, identify and acquire new accounts in the field of responsibility
  • Achieve business targets assigned
  • Identify and assess potential new distribution channels in line with business and logistic strategies
  • Proactively initiate projects by defining business potential and technical complexity
  • Provide technical advice for standard or other inquiries or refer to the technical team where necessary
  • Expand networking and participate in trade exhibitions, conferences, and association events
  • Maintain and communicate information on activities of competitors, industry trends, and market movements
  • Maintain relevant documentation and business tools, including CRM (Customer Relationship Management), visit reports and project updates, business plan and forecasting
  • Lead, guide, and support local distributors, ensuring regular and frequent business and customer contacts
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the customer team and technical centers to address technology gaps
  • Observe and comply with the basic rules laid down in the management systems used by local entities, Business Teams, and global organizations e.g., the Code Of Conduct
  • Ensure that travel plans and appointment schedules adhere to the cost-benefit principle
  • Business development with a focus on new applications / new industries and introducing new offerings to the defined target customers
  • Systematically collect, analyze, and present customer, market, industry, technology trends, and competitor information/data (commercial and technical). This includes product forecasting and planning for these new industries/business fields and building a network (universities, authorities) for new applications and support seminars and symposia

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry/Engineering or any relevant courses
  • At least 5 years of B2B sales experience in the Construction, Coatings, or Chemical Industry
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office, CRM & Microsoft Office)
  • Strong business acumen and negotiation skills; and a good understanding of cross-functional cooperation
  • Experienced in working as part of a Regional or Global Team, within an organizational matrix structure
  • Strong Intercultural skills
  • Self-motivated; confident and assertive manner and able to work independently and with a strong initiative. Has an entrepreneurial approach.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to travel within the SEA region and occasionally to Europe
