About the role

This role is responsible for proactive, high-quality customs & excise operations in Indonesia. The role handles operational activities in coordination with the local Supply team in order to support the production and distribution activities. It is part of the Asia-Pacific (“APAC”) customs & excise team in the Global Tax function and reports to the Indonesia Customs & Excise manager.

Accountabilities

  • Implement global strategies, policies and guidelines for customs & excise management in Indonesia, principally for an expanding production plant.
  • Manage day-to-day customs declarations for import, export and excise tax filings (e.g.CK-4B, CK-5, CSCK and etc.) related to local production, import/export licenses, HS code determination, FTA implementation etc, ensuring good documentation.
  • Keep up-to-date with customs & excise regulatory changes and best practices, try to analyze impact of regulations on daily activities, identify risks and opportunities and suggest solutions.
  • Support digital transformation projects, including self-identifying opportunities for automation and applying technology to customs & excise workflows.
  • Support timely resolution of queries and audits from customs & excise authorities.
  • Participate in global trade projects to deliver value and manage potential exposure.
  • Support the local C&E manager, Regional Head and global teams in identifying and delivering projects focused on cost reduction (e.g. bonded operation).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree; At least 2 years of proven experience in customs and/or excise operations in a multinational company, advisory firm or a customs & excise authority.
  • Basic technical knowledge of customs and trade regulations in Indonesia, e.g. HS code, customs valuation, duty drawback and Free Trade Agreements.
  • Able to understand logistics processes and experience in managing 3PLs / customs brokers.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, out-put based and able to solve problems.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, team player who is able to partner with other functions, with cultural awareness and curiosity.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Proven experience working with customs, excise and other government agencies.
  • Familiarity with Customs portal, detail-oriented, good at processing data, data analysis, excel. Macros, Power Query / Power BI to save time on daily operations is a plus.
