This is an exciting time to join the Army Programmes directorate as we seek to employ a highly motivated Air System Safety Manager, with a strong understanding of Air System Safety Case Management to support delivery of a complex capability to the front line.

The successful candidate will provide support to the Programme Director performing activities such as:

  • Responsibility for developing the safety case and delivering support to establishing evidence and artefacts where required, such as; Air Safety Management Plan (ASMP), Air Safety training plans and policy, Air System Safety Case (ASSC), Risk to Life (RtL) Bowties.
  • Providing Governance and Reporting for all Safety related aspects of the programme.
  • Interpret and manage compliance across the Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Publications (MRP) applicable to the Air System.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Defence to coordinate safety inputs associated with the Air System.
  • Manage the assurance of the Safety programme.

The safety development process will endure beyond handover of responsibility to the Operational Duty Holder (ODH) as aircraft capabilities and working practices develop, Project Stakeholders will be brought in to utilise the management tool, ensuring the RtL for the Air System is As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) and tolerable.

Due to the niche requirements of this role, candidates will be required to demonstrate an existing understanding of the aviation/air safety process and regulations. Whilst we would not expect candidates to hold specific knowledge or experience in Chinook aircraft, we are interested to hear from you if this is a passion of yours. We encourage applicants to demonstrate their interest and any existing knowledge as clearly as possible throughout the application process.

We will be looking to utilise a reserve list from this campaign. This means that high-calibre candidates will be contacted after the interview process to discuss similar opportunities in Army Programmes without the need to re-interview.

The Army Programmes Directorate is adopting a flexible approach to our workforce to ensure that project delivery priorities are met whilst maximising opportunities in support of skills development and wider career pathways. This means that successful candidates may be allocated flexibly across the Directorate aligning to priorities.

With your positive attitude, you will work as an integrated team member to achieve objectives. You will be flexible, self-motivated and possess the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
